Last week I travelled way outside my comfort zone; flew solo to Ft. Lauderdale to attend the AVN "O" Awards, wore a dress on 2 separate occasions, and basically networked my ass off. I know, I know, me wearing a dress is kinda a big shocker (one that is not totally unlike "the shocker" finger bang :)
I had never attended an AVN event before, but it is surprisingly similar to any other conference. There was an opening address by the keynote speaker, plenty of break-out workshops and plenaries, vendors promoting and selling their wares, and the annual awards show. AVN came up with this annual conference to recognize and celebrate outstanding products, manufacturers, and companies that are in the pleasure product industry.

I will mention the winners that are most important to me as a sexuality educator, but if you would like to get a complete listing of the 2010 "O" Awards Winners, please go here.
Outstanding Marketing Campaign: "The G-Spot Does Exist" by Je Joue
Outstanding Boutique: The Stockroom, Los Angeles, CA.
Outstanding Online Retailer: Good Vibrations
A huge congratulations to all the nominees and especially to the winners!
As a sexuality educator, I think it can be much easier for people who are already somewhat uncomfortable purchasing a sex toy to say that it recently received an award. The fact that the "O" awards even exist warms my heart a little more knowing we are moving towards normalizing the concept of sexual health and sexual acceptance...that, to me, is priceless!
